User Preferences

What is personal to you vs what is shared across your organization.

User Preferences#

Neriyam keeps a clean line between what is yours (saved in your browser for you only) and what is shared (saved on the server for everyone in your organization). Knowing which is which avoids surprises.

What is personal to you#

These are remembered per browser per user. Changing them has no effect on anyone else.

Theme (light / dark)#

Click the sun/moon icon in the header to toggle. Neriyam remembers your choice on this browser.

Click the sidebar toggle to collapse it to icons or expand it back out. Your choice sticks on this browser.

Last organization selected#

The last organization you picked from the Select an Organization screen is remembered on this browser. The next time you log in, you go straight there — no picker.

List page state (in the URL)#

On list pages, your current search, sort, filters, and page number are stored in the page URL. Copy the URL to share a filtered view with a colleague, or bookmark it for yourself.

What your profile holds#

Open Profile from the user menu to see your profile. The fields are:

  • First name, last name
  • Email (also your login)
  • Role badge — Regular user or System admin
  • Email verified indicator

These fields are maintained by an admin. The one thing you can do from profile is change your password.

What is shared across your organization#

The rest of Neriyam's settings live inside the organization and are shared by every user in it. An admin sets them once; everyone sees the same values.

Regional settings (Settings › System Settings)#

  • Timezone — used to display all dates and times
  • Date format — e.g. 08-Apr-2026 vs 08/04/2026 vs 2026-04-08
  • Time format — 12-hour (2:30 PM) or 24-hour (14:30)
  • Number format — Indian (1,23,456.78), Standard (1,234,567.89), European, Swiss, etc.

Changing any of these four formatting settings logs every user in your organization out. They log back in and see the updated formatting. Coordinate before you save.

Approval toggles (Settings › System Settings)#

  • Item requires approval — when on, new items must go through the approval workflow before they can be used
  • Customer requires approval — same for customers
  • Supplier requires approval — same for suppliers

Other organization-wide settings#

  • Company profile — legal name, tax ID, logo, GSTINs, locations, contacts
  • Document numbering — how codes are generated for each document type
  • Tax setup — tax components, groups, and rates
  • Payment terms — the payment conditions offered to customers and suppliers
  • Users and roles — who is in the organization and what they can do

See the Settings module for full details.

What is personal vs. shared#

Per-user preferences are limited to your theme (light/dark) and sidebar collapsed state, both stored on this browser. Everything else — regional formatting, approval toggles, document numbering, modules visible — is set at the organization level by an admin and is the same for every user in that organization.
